EMBROIDERY THREADS
For embroidery we offer our
unique floss which is a
continuous filament flat
silk with a high luxurious
lustre. By using more than
one strand in different
shades in the needle it is
very easy to blend or tone
the colours.
The spun silks can also be
used for embroidery where a
soft, muted effect is
required.
For miniature embroidery we
would recommend using our
fine twisted silks, 2/20
Twisted Silk and 4/20
Twisted Silk; 2/20 Twisted
Silk can be used on 140 hpi
silk gauze! |

LACEMAKING THREADS (Bobbin
Lace and Needle Lace)
All our silks can be used
for bobbin lace. The very
fine twisted silks (2/20,
4/20 and 6/20) are perfect
for Honiton designs and we
have a wide range in-between
suitable for many different
types of lace together with
beautiful silk gimps. The
80/3 Spun Silk and 90/3
Gloss Silk are also suitable
for Needle Lace. |

TEXTILE
CONSERVATORS/RESTORERS
We supply silks to
established textile
conservators and restorers
who mostly use the finer
threads in their
conservation and restoration
work. We are happy to offer
a colour matching service at
no extra charge. |

SPLIT-CANE FISHING ROD
BUILDERS/RESTORERS
Split-cane fishing rods
provide another use for our
Twisted Gloss Silks. We
have many rod builders who
use our silks for whipping
split-cane rods in
traditional shades. The
floss silks are also used to
make flies for fly-fishing.
See the 90/2 Twisted Gloss Silk,
90/3 Twisted Gloss Silk, 4/20
Twisted Silk and Floss.
Our silks are beautiful to
work with and they are not
expensive or frail! Our
prices compete well with
cottons and linens and our
Honiton threads are much
sought after for their
fineness and strength. |
