All our Fine Twisted Silks, High Gloss Floss Silks, Twisted Semi-Gloss Silks, Twisted Gloss Silks and Silk Gimps are made from Continuous Filament (Nett) yarn.

The Spun Silk yarns are made from pieces of cocoons that have been shed during the preparation of the original continuous filament yarn. The small pieces of fibre are brushed and twisted together to form a thread as in cotton spinning. However it still has a smooth, silky texture.

Pipers Fine Twisted Silks/Pipers Twisted Gloss Silk Gimps have a greater amount of twist in them per inch than the Pipers Floss Silks. Floss Silks have only a very few turns per inch and therefore have a 'flat' look to them. Pipers Silk Floss is an excellent embroidery yarn. The Floss Silks lend themselves to being gently folded together to make the popular "Folded" Floss Silks. Silk is a relatively strong yarn.
