Fine Twisted Silk

Pipers 2/20, 4/20 and 6/20 Fine Twisted Silks all have a more significant amount of twist per inch than the floss silks, making them especially strong and smooth. These silks are particularly useful to textile conservators and restorers. This quality makes the Fine Twisted Silks perfect for Honiton Lace; we also have matching course threads available in many of the fine twisted silk shades.


Miniature embroiderers use our 2/20 Fine Twisted Silks and 4/20 Fine Twisted Silks for amazing designs, as high as 140 count silk gauze!

Fine Twisted Silks range from 30 denier, 60 denier to 90 denier in thickness. 

Fine Twisted Silks are proving popular with float makers and split cane fishing rod restorers.  The most popular size for float makers is 4/20 Fine Twisted Silk; this silk is often used for intermediate whippings.
